Details of the Award

The Career Ready Award is 80+ hours of activities. However when you look at the list you might find that you are already completing some of them! Some students might need the entire degree to complete the Award, others may only need a few months.

If you are graduating soon, give it your best go – it is all going to help prepare you for work in the future even if you don’t manage to complete it! If you are already participating in other programs around the University or have a part-time job then you’re already on track to collecting points.

To have the Career Ready Program recognised on your VU Extra Transcript in time for graduation, make sure you apply for the award by the following dates:

  • mid-year graduation: 1 July
  • end of year graduation: 1 November.

After you complete the Award, you will get a certificate that says you have completed the VU Career Ready Award and have completed several hours of career development activities. Plus you will have the Award added to your VU Extra Transcript.

You must find your own internships, volunteering or work experience. If you’re not sure where to start in finding a job then our team at VU Employ is here to help!

Your work experience does not have to be relevant to your degree. As long as you have worked or volunteered for a minimum of 25 hours and you can get a letter from your employer or manager saying this then it will eligible for the award. For example, if you are studying engineering and work at Coles, then this is eligible for your work experience.
