The library profession acknowledges their role in the wider community and is committed to joining the conversation on contemporary issues including equity, social justice, and sustainability.

Libraries provide information and resources in accessible and engaging ways, sharing resources to promote conversation and new individual and corporate knowledge.

VU Library is committed to VU values – always WEST (welcoming, ethical, shaping the future, together), and the VU commitment to Planetary Health.

SDGs & the VU Library

The Library Guide SDGs and the VU Library has been developed as a response by the VU Library to the call from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Planetary Health Alliance that all organisations cooperate and contribute in any way they can to the common goal of a more sustainable future for all. Explore resources and read about how the library profession is engaging with the SDGs.

Black Lives Matter

Moondani Balluk, our Indigenous Academic Unit, and the VU Library have created a Black Lives Matter Library Guide with resources to support self-education for staff and students at Victoria University. Access the guide, and be informed.

LGBTIQ+ Resources

The LGBTIQ+ Library Guide offers all VU students and staff the opportunity to connect with books, articles and videos to educate themselves about the LGBTIQ+ community. The Pride & Ally network at VU supports employees to be comfortable in the workplace, and supports students through their VU studies.

Planetary health

The Planetary Health resources at VU Library Guide points to relevant information available through VU Library and open access content, and links to VU research.

The Guide provides a beginning to the exploration of Planetary Health for students and staff, and aligns with the Strategic Plan core principle - “We commit ourselves to working for the health and sustainability of our planet”.
