Professor Neil Andrews

Neil Andrews has worked as a lawyer for many years, including periods with:

• the Commonwealth Deputy Crown Solicitor's Office, Sydney
• an English provincial and a London law firm
• Aboriginal legal services in NSW and Central Australia
• the Central Land Council
• as a legal advisor in the offices of federal ministers for indigenous affairs and immigration and
• in the corporate and securities section of the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Sydney.

Neil joined Victoria Law School in 2001. He retired at the end of 2017 and was appointed an Emeritus Professor. He previously held the role of Deputy Director of the Centre for International Corporate Governance Research and acting head of Victoria Law School. From 2010 to 2011 he was Chair of the Education and Research Board, and is presently Deputy Chair of the Academic Board and Chair of the Postgraduate Research and Teaching and Learning committees.

Neil has been a visiting professor at:

• the University of British Columbia
• the University of Saskatchewan
• the University of New Mexico
• Osgoode Hall Law School, York University
• the London School of Economics and Political Science
• the City University of Hong Kong
• the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies
• University of London, and
• the Australian Centre at the University of Potsdam.

He is the editor of the Australian Journal of Corporate Law, and, previously, a member of the editorial board of Aboriginal History.

Neil is a Barrister and Solicitor in the High Court of Australia, and a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.
