Samuel has completed a PhD in International and Business Economics, Master of Economics and a Bachelor Degree in International Trade and Retail Management in Australia. He averaged First Class Honours and High Distinctions at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and as a result he was the recipient of three significant academic awards.

He received The Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) in 2007, which was a scholarship to undertake his PhD studies funded by the Australian Federal Government – Department of Education, Science and Training. This APA scholarship gave Samuel the opportunity to undertake his PhD studies at any university in Australia.

Additional academic awards that Samuel attained were the 'Best Postgraduate Student' in 2007 and an award for being the best student in Bachelor of Business in 2003.

Samuel possesses more than 14 years of experience in the sales, management and manufacturing environment both here in Australia and overseas. His roles in his business career include: being an area and shop manager in the retail industry, operations manager in the manufacturing industry and a marketing representative and technology development associate in the sales and manufacturing industry.

Since 2005 Samuel's professional direction has been mainly in the academic field where he utilises his vast industry knowledge and experiences to the higher education students in the business courses at VU.

In October 2018 Samuel was awarded the Excellence in Learning & Teaching award from Victoria University Business School. The award recognises a sustained contribution to student learning, engagement and experiences through developing student skills and knowledge of business project management, career development and engagement with global business.
