Robert Stary is one of the most experienced criminal legal practitioners in Victoria.
He has practised law since 1980 and is currently Principal of Robert Stary Lawyers. Mr Stary has held numerous professional association positions within the Victorian legal profession and since 2003 has been the Chairperson of the Law Institute of Victoria Criminal Law Section. He is the current President of the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association. Since 1999, Robert Stary has been the Chairperson of the Visy Cares Hub in Sunshine. He was the founding committee member of both the Western Suburbs Legal Service and the Footscray Community Legal Centre.
During his years in practice, Mr Stary has been involved in some of the most high-profile criminal litigation in Victoria, including the S11 and G20 prosecutions, the Tamil Tigers and Jack Thomas terrorism trials and the Melbourne 'gangland' series of prosecutions.
