Domenico is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the First Year College at Victoria University. Over 2018 and 2019 he successfully led the implementation of Year 1 and 2 undergraduate Chemistry in block-mode format. He also introduced a novel laboratory-based approach to learning and teaching in qualitative organic analysis and pharmaceutical testing.
Domenico's educational research interests are in pedagogy, curriculum design and student learning as applied to block-mode and laboratory-based learning and teaching. Current projects, in collaboration with international block institutes, examine block-mode learning and teaching in STEM disciplines. Other projects include curriculum design using a laboratory-based pedagogy for learning and teaching in undergraduate Analytical and Organic Chemistry.
Domenico's applied research interests are in Analytical Chemistry and Separation Science. Current projects, with great agricultural application, look at developing sensitive methods of analysis for various phytohormones in biostimulants and to investigate the efficacy of these compounds in relation to plant growth.
