Victoria University College (VU College) is offering a new scholarship to recognise and reward exceptional student achievement.
As part of the inaugural VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship, international students who achieve at least a distinction in each unit in their first semester of a diploma at VU College in Melbourne will receive a $2000 grant for their second semester of studies.
The scholarship is open to all international students who commence a Diploma of Business (Enterprise), Diploma of Information Technology or Diploma of Engineering in Melbourne in 2016.
While students are not required to submit a separate scholarship application, they must hold a student visa and commence their respective diploma by 18 July 2016.
Students’ results will be assessed individually after successful completion of their first semester diploma course to determine eligibility for the $2000 grant.
VU College Executive Director Carolyn Chong says the VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship has been developed to celebrate the official launch of VU College in 2016 – which also marks the University’s centenary of education.
“VU College will officially open in early 2016, providing a pivotal gateway to VU degrees through our higher education diplomas and English language courses,” Ms Chong says.
“2016 is also a milestone year for Victoria University as it marks the centenary of the founding of our predecessor, the Footscray Technical School, and our 25th anniversary as a university.
“In such a momentous year, the VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship is a fitting way to not only promote the College, but to reward our high-achieving international students.”
Established earlier this year, VU College provides seamless entry to the second year of degrees in business, IT and engineering through one-year pathway diplomas.
Open to both domestic and international students, these pathway diplomas offer smaller class sizes with more contact hours, tailored assessments and access to all University facilities and support, but with lower tuition fees than the first year of bachelor degrees.
The College also offers a range of English language courses to help students obtain the required level of English proficiency for entry to a VU diploma or degree.
