The outstanding work of two VU staff in international education was acknowledged at the 2015 International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) Excellence Awards.
Danielle Hartridge was recognised for her work helping international students, while Bronte Neyland was awarded a Future Leader Fellowship worth $7000.
The IEAA’s Excellence Awards recognise outstanding contributions and best practice in international education.
Danielle, VU’s Associate Director, International Student Experience, was one of two winners in the 2015 Distinguished Contribution to International award. The category “recognises the ongoing outstanding contribution of a professional colleague in international education who has led groundbreaking initiatives that improved international education in Australia.”
Danielle received the award for making “a distinguished contribution to international education in Australia through her leadership in student services; setting professional standards; advocating for students; mentoring staff and students and guiding policy development.”
Danielle has received multiple awards for her creative approaches to student support, which have included developing one of the first 24-hour help line services; instituting critical incident response mechanisms and developing partnerships across the community to improve student safety and mental health support.
This work has helped thousands of students, and the programs she has pioneered have been adopted by institutions in Australia and overseas.
Meanwhile Bronte, Associate Director, International Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions, received the IEAA’s 2015 Tracy McCabe Future Leader Fellowship.
The fellowship, supported by the Australia Universities International Director’s Forum, provides $7000 to an up-and-coming leader in Australian international higher education for professional development to support their career progression as an international education leader.
The fellowship is recognition of Bronte’s outstanding work leading the University’s onshore international student recruitment and admissions activities globally.
We congratulate both Danielle and Bronte on their achievements and are proud to have them as part of the VU team.
