As part of a Sports History project, VU students Bronwyn Humphreys and Bernard O’Dwyer have curated the Western Bulldogs historical display at the Footscray Park Library (level 2 near the service desk).
Associate Professor Robert Hess from the College of Sport and Exercise Science teaches the Sports History unit that requires students to carry out hands-on historical research on numerous facets of sport history. According to Associate Professor Hess, the purpose of the Western Bulldogs Historical display is to “showcase their history through an attractive display of (copies of) archival materials”.
Some of the archival materials on display include the Replica of 1935 ‘Candy-Striped’ Guernsey, photographs, player badges and Footscray Football Club’s 69th (1952) Annual Report and Balance Sheet.
