Victoria University's Vocational Education and Further Education (VE/FE) graduates are finding better employment outcomes than any other TAFE or VET provider in Australia, according to the latest Student Outcomes Survey (SOS).
Employment outcomes for graduates improved by 5.2 per cent from 2011 with 84.3 per cent of those surveyed finding employment after completing training. Victoria University graduates also performed better than any other TAFE provider in Australia, where 77.8 per cent were employed as a result of training.
In the 2012 survey, 93 per cent of VU graduates reported high levels of overall satisfaction with the quality of the training they received, and 90 per cent would recommend the University.
The SOS is an annual survey conducted on behalf of the Department of Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research, used to gather information from graduates who completed recognised vocational training in the previous year.
The survey gathers information on students, including their employment situation, reasons for undertaking their training, and level of satisfaction.
Overwhelmingly, graduates nominated 'employment related outcomes' as the main reason for undertaking training. Other reasons included personal development and further study outcomes. 37 per cent of our VE/FE students went on to do further study after training.
About a third of the graduates surveyed chose to study at VU because their training was part of an apprenticeship or traineeship, the highest percentage in Australia. Graduates from VU were also around twice as likely as other groups to be studying at a university.
