Our second annual Australian Business Week (ABW) competition ran over four consecutive Saturdays from 12 May to 2 June 2012.
Nearly 50 year 10 and 11 students from schools across Melbourne (and one participant from Ballarat!) competed over the three week program, running a sporting goods manufacturer, making decisions concerning marketing, operations and finance.
Guided by expert mentors, students were divided into teams and given a variety of tasks. They also worked online for the duration of the program, communicating with their team members from school and home.
Students presented company report, oral presentations, a TV ad they'd made themselves, and put on a trade fair on the final day before awards presentations.
The overall winners this year were Team Blue – 'Blue Fusion'. The team invented cutting-edge 'swimming skins' which measured athlete performance while in use. They were presented with their winners' plaques by Fiona Campbell, Partner at Ernst & Young, our generous keynote partner.
Sincere thanks must go to the mentors of the teams, which included a dedicated contingent of FoBL students, many from SIFE.
