It was a notable night for students of Victoria University's School of Service Industries, Diploma of Specialist Make-up Services.
As part of their final assessment, Students created a spectacular and interactive event showcasing the skills acquired during their diploma studies.

Jenni-Lee Carter & Rumpelstiltskin

Megan Burnside & Cleopatra

Rhian Tophy & Ariel (Little Mermaid)

Rhiannon Guthrie & Marcus Corvinus (Underworld)
Live Art was the theme for this spectacular evening held at VenU. The event showcased the full range of skills acquired in VU's diploma course. It's not just hair and make-up, the students are responsible for creating the whole character from head to toe, wig creation and styling, prosthesis, costumes and fantastical makeup. The amazing results reflected the hundreds of hours of student work.
Rob Walker, Animation Specialist from L'Oreal, told the gathering how proud he was of the company's association with the university. "There is theatre standard work already, this is amazing. This is not the end, this is the beginning" he advised the graduating class "you need to hussle your skills so that they will book you."
Sharryn Sinclair, Creative Director at WASP Hair, is another industry player recognising the specialist skills students were learning. "It's a great privilege to work with VU staff and Students. In my 20 years working with colleges around the country, I don't think I have ever come across a college where teaching staff and students are so passionate. The strength of this course shows with where former students end up in the industry, everyone will stand up and notice you" she told the students.
Friends and family marvelled at the talent on display. Special guest Lord Mayor Robert Doyle put aside the official duties for the evening and attended the event in the capacity of proud parent of daughter Antonia.
Industry representatives attended the evening and provided an industry critique of the techniques used in the presentations, selecting the winners of the Industry Choice Awards.
