Leading economists from around the world will gather at Victoria University this month to discuss the global economy, climate change, Australian taxi industry reform and the future of our banking sector.
The 41st Australian Conference of Economists – and adjacent Business Symposium – will feature University of Cambridge Nobel Laureate Sir James Mirrlees, Dr Ken Henry and Professor Allan Fels in a high-profile line-up covering the big economic issues.
Victoria University is hosting the July 8 to 12 events for the Economic Society of Australia. The University is also sponsoring a public lecture by Columbia University Professor Jagdish Bhagwati at BMW Edge on Monday night, on the topic of globalisation and the current crisis.
Delegates include 300 economists from government, industry and academia representing the best of our current and future policy analysts and business decision makers.
More than 200 academics papers have been contributed and reviewed, making this one of the largest collections of reviewed papers presented at an ACE conference to date.
Victoria University Centre for Strategic Economic Studies Professor Peter Sheehan will speak at the Business Symposium on the future of productivity and growth – discussing the resources boom and public policy in Australia with keynote speaker Professor Max Corden.
