Shaan Naughton, a student from the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences is conducting a study looking into the effects of weight loss on the Endocannabinoid system and how different meal compositions affect acute circulating levels of endocannabinoids.
Eligible participants will receive free dietary and lifestyle advice as well as a body composition assessment. To be suitable for this study you must:
- be aged 18-60
- be overweight or obese (BMI >25 or waist circumference >94cm (male), >80cm (female))
- have your weight stable
- not be currently taking any weight loss medication/supplementation or fatty acid supplementation such as fish oils or omega 3
- be free from heart, liver or kidney disease, type 1 and type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance
- not be pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant or currently breastfeeding
