VenU back on the menu

Inspired by their experiences as part of the recent Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the VenU Team are introducing a fresh new menu on Tuesday 17th April 2012.

School of Service Industries was heavily involved with the 2012 MFWF.  Our Hospitality students and staff teamed up with local restaurateurs, Maribyrnong City Council and community organisations to bring the "Feasting in Footscray Program"  to foodies from all over the state.

There was a series of local food events and tickets were quickly snapped for events  including a behind the scenes look at Cavallaro's Bakery , Tour, talk and taste at Footscray Market and Rickshaw Run – a progressive dinner with a difference!

During the festival the VenU team hosted a degustation dinner, 'Glam Up & Indulge in the West'.  The involvement gave students the experience of providing professional levels of service both in the kitchen and front of house.

Now everyone has the opportunity to experience the future heroes of the hospitality world. The VenU team are introducing a fresh new menu on Tuesday 17th April.  The restaurant will be reopening to the public with a brand new menu  which will showcase fresh produce prepared with pizazz.    Dinner is served from 6.00pm with a two course meal only $22.00 per person.  Bookings are essential

VenU is a 120-seat state-of-the art training restaurant and function centre and is the centerpiece of a recent $2.7 million upgrade to the University's hospitality training facilities.  Built in consultation with industry leaders, the new facilities include three state-of-the-art kitchens with individual stainless steel work stations and the latest cooking equipment; two theatre-style demonstration kitchens; a training bar and multimedia laboratories.

VenU is open to staff, students and the public for lunch, dinner and small meetings weekdays during University term dates.
