Participants needed - research on body image dissatisfaction

Understanding the development of eating disorders: the impact of early life experiences and relationships on body image dissatisfaction among young adult women.

If you are a woman aged 18-35 years and do not have a diagnosed eating disorder, we would like to invite you to be a part of a study into body image and early life experiences.

People who suffer from eating disorders can sometimes have a long and difficult journey to recovery.  Research has shown that people with eating disorders tend to be already dissatisfied with the weight and shape of their bodies before their disorders develop.  The purpose of this study is to find out whether early life experiences and relationships could have an influence on how women feel about their bodies.

If you would like to become involved as a participant, please complete the survey which will take approximately 10 minutes. The sorts of questions that you will be asked will be about how you feel about yourself, your relationships and your body. You will be asked to provide an estimate of your weight and height measurements.

The project will provide results that may assist in the identification of effective evidence-based psychological treatments to assist young women in improving their body self image and reduce risk of serious eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

Alternatively, please contact the student researcher to request a paper copy to be posted to you.
