VU students invited to attend the University Scholars Leadership Symposium

The University Scholars association has contacted VU to invite our students to participate in their 2nd University Scholars Leadership Symposium from 1-7 August 2011 in Pattaya, Thailand.  

Undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interest in disaster and humanitarian affairs are encouraged to attend. You will have the opportunity to explore humanitarian values, principles and affairs through a global perspective. 

Sessions will include speaking with with predominate humanitarians, core workshops to facilitate knowledge building and experiential service learning activities. The symposium will not only facilitate the global sharing of knowledge but will also provide delegates with key leadership skills.  Furthermore, the symposium provides an opportunity to network with like minded youth from across the world. 

Early bird registration fee 

Before end May 2011, the registration fee is 22,500 Thai Baht. This includes:

  • 6 night accommodation at a 4-star hotel
  • breakfast, lunch and coffee break
  • airport transfer
  • local transportation
  • field trips
  • site visits
  • guest lectures
  • workshop discussions
  • a souvenir t-shirt and journal
  • certificate of participation
  • ticket to the official welcoming dinner and farewell party

Those nominated by VU will be exempted from the usual application process. However please note, you are required to organise and pay for all costs (i.e travel and registration fees).  Each university is allowed to nominate no more than 10 students.
