In March, VU's Singapore Alumni Chapter President Mr Kim Swee Seah, was one of five Distinguished Australian Alumni Awardees announced at the Distinguished Alumni Networking Night.
The award was announced by Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, His Excellency Mr Doug Chester. The awards are chosen on very strict criteria, and Kim Swee was the only awardee from a university in Victoria.
Kim Swee studied his Master of Business in Professional Accounting at VU, graduating in 1995. He is a founding member of the Victoria University Alumni Singapore Chapter and in October 2003, he took over leadership of the chapter.
Kim Swee frequently liaises with the local provider of our University's offshore programmes to ensure that the high standards of the courses are being met. He maintains regular contacts with the University's international division to give feedback on Singapore students as well as market development.
To promote networking with fellow alumni of Australian universities, he organises regular activities for the alumni and friends to strengthen the link with the university and also to develop networking opportunities for the alumni. Kim Swee is a member of the University's 90 Years, 90 Legends - celebrating 90 of the most amazing people associated with the University.
For his sterling contributions to the nation, the Singapore government awarded him the Public Service Medal in 1985 and the Public Service Star in 2000.
VU Alumni Relations congratulates Mr Kim Swee Seah for the recognition of his services to the Australian Alumni community in Singapore.
