Victoria University's tourism and hospitality courses are the first in Australia to receive quality accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
VU Faculty of Business and Law Executive Dean Professor David Lamond said the accreditation from the highly respected EFMD showed that VU's Tourism and Hospitality courses were internationally recognised for their quality of curriculum, staff and graduates.
"This accreditation shows just how highly regarded we are in the international community and is testament to all the hard work undertaken by so many of our colleagues,'' Professor Lamond said.
"This quality assurance process means that more students will be attracted to VU from across the world, and will result in greater collaboration with the relevant industries. We can bask in the reflected glow of this success, before we look to take the next steps on our quality journey."
Professor Lamond said that with more than 10,000 students from all over the world and an extensive network of international partnerships, VU's Faculty of Business and Law is one of the largest business schools in Australia.
"The Faculty's mission for its students is to develop responsible, market-ready professionals with a global outlook. It deserves to be internationally recognised and now it has been,'' he said.
The VU Tourism and Hospitality courses achieved the top quality rating after the EFMD's Program Accreditation System (EPAS) Board conducted an in-depth review of individual courses through international comparison and benchmarking, including a visit from a multi-national Peer Review Team.
The EFMD has over 700 member organisations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in more than 80 countries. Many of the world's leading business schools and companies currently use the EFMD network to their advantage.
