VU hosts Peepli Live at the Melbourne International Film Festival

Acclaimed Bollywood actor/producer Aamir Khan and director Anusha Rizvi attended the Australian premiere screening of Peepli Live, hosted by Victoria University (VU) and Education Centre of Australia (ECA) in Melbourne on the 6th of August.

The film, which has received rave reviews at Cannes and Sundance film festivals, screened as part of VU's official Cultural Partnership of the 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival. The screening was preceded by a reception where stars of the film greeted over 40 guests of the University including Vice-Chancellor Elizabeth Harman, distinguished guests from VU exchange partner the University of El Paso Texas and Victorian government officials.

Also in attendance were a number of student volunteers who assisted on the night by greeting guests as they arrived with a VU gift basket full of Indian sweets.

The special gala screening was one of a number of cultural events that VU has coordinated with international students and the community in the past 12 months, including the Diwali festival and a cricket match with Victoria Police.
