Victoria University students finished in 3rd place overall and won the Hugh McKechnie Award for the 2nd consecutive year at the 2010 Southern University Games. The Hugh McKechnie award is for overall games champion based on per capita (factoring in squad size and University population).
14 institutions were represented from Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania at the event including VU, Monash, Swinburne, Deakin, Latrobe, RMIT, University of Melbourne, University of South Australia, University of Tasmania, Australian Catholic University, University of Ballarat, Flinders University, Adelaide University and Royal Military College.
VU Medal Tally
Gold - Women's AFL, women's basketball, mixed netball and men's volleyball.
Silver - Women's volleyball
Bronze - Women's netball
Placed fourth in men's basketball, ultimate frisbee, men's AFL and mixed touch.

Teams are now focused on and preparing to compete at the 2010 Australian University Games Perth, 27 September to 1 October.
