In April, Sport and Fitness ran campus challenges, giving students an opportunity to meet new people and represent their campus in a social round robin competition.
Table Tennis
The VU campus Table Tennis Challenge was held on the 30 April and was a success with players fighting it out in a round robin tournament at the Footscray Park campus. Students from Footscray Park, City Flinders and Footscray Nicholson campuses participated with the eventual winner Kiumars Bayat, a master's student from the City Flinders campus. He finished the tournament undefeated and for that received a three month membership to the fitness centres. The runner up was Vinh Phan
Badminton
The VU cross campus Badminton Challenge was contested on the same day at the Footscray Nicholson Campus. Competitors from Footscray Park and City Flinders campuses played each other in a round robin tournament to find a winner. The winner was Devarisi Sharma an international student from Fiji studying Business and Law at Footscray Park. Devarisi finished the round robin undefeated and received a three month fitness centre membership. The runner up was Beng Ong.
Tennis
The VU campus Tennis Challenge on 16 April was a successful and fun day for all. It was held at Riverside Tennis and Golf Centre in Ascot Vale on a beautiful autumn day with the temperature reaching 27 degrees and the sun shining all day. Competitors represented the Footscray Park, St Albans campuses and the Student Village. The challenge was played as a round robin format. Ben Pfau, an International student from Germany was our overall winner, finishing undefeated from his six matches. For his efforts he received a free three month fitness centre membership and a VU water bottle. Our runner up Cameron Hillas finished with only one loss, which was to Ben, also received a water bottle. All competitors received a VU Vulture pin.
