VU College innovation expertise showcased

Keith Kirkwood, VU lecturer in Learning Support Services for students, was a keynote speaker at Touchpoint 2010, 1st International Conference on Technology in Education.

Held from March 4-5 in Manila, the theme was "Real Learning with ICT". Keith's presentation examined the technologies and pedagogies that drive participatory learning and scaffold peer mentoring.  He showcased and demonstrated SNAPVU, the innovative Web 2.0 platform that VU College staff and students have been assembling, sustained by a TLS project grant.

Keith visited the Learning Innovations Center of De La Salle University in Manila, conferred with faculty about SNAPVU, and spoke to students about their ICT projects and proposals. He also delivered a speech on Participatory Learning to students in the College of Computer Studies.  The response was immediate and energising - one group of students has already attempted to translate the ideas from his paper to a participatory platform for the local learning context.
