Following the retirement of former Chancellor Justice the Hon. Frank Vincent AO, QC in August, the University Council established a search committee to select a new chancellor.
The role of the chancellor, as chair of the Council and the ceremonial chief of the University, is central to the governance of the University.
VU has had three distinguished chancellors since its inception in 1990: Creighton Burns (1990-94), Peter Laver (1995-2000) and Frank Vincent (2001-09).
The search committee expects to make a recommendation on the appointment of the new chancellor to the University Council by the end of the year.
