Victoria University's (VU) City Flinders Campus is home to some extremely talented, up and coming artists - all honing their skills with VU's Vocational Education courses.
Their talents have been recognised with the Victoria University Art Prize.
First prize was awarded to Minh Phan for his entry 'Covered' - winning him $300. Minh is a part time 2nd year Visual Art student who studies at City Flinders, and when he is not at VU, he works as a GP. Judges Kieran Stewart and Jan Ryan were impressed by the level of enquiry and technical skill demonstrated in his mixed media work on paper.
Second Prize of $200 went to En-En See, who is in first year of a Diploma of Visual Art, for 'Emma'. Third Prize of $100 went to Ann Ryan, who is in second year of a Diploma of Visual Art, for 'Shapred Tune'.
Two works were selected as Highly Commended: second year Diploma of Visual Art student, Mira Krulic, for 'Climate Control'; and first year Diploma of Visual Art student, Richard Vonya, for 'Mikers the Magnificent'.
The event, which is in its ninth year, attracted 48 entries. This year there was a new prize category - the Encouragement Awards, with $300 prize money, which went to: first year Diploma of Visual Art student, Heidi Tatchell, for 'Photograph Series 1'; and Diploma of Multimedia student, Lindsay Brissett, for 'Growth Study 2'.
