DIT is a non-government, not for profit institution created to deliver vocational education targeting the needs of youth, veterans and their children.
This second MOU marks a renewal of the commitment to DIT by Victoria University to continue to provide direct assistance as their new campus develops and the range of courses offered expands. Assistance will come in the form of access to Library resources, provision of equipment, further training of staff, advice on planning and direct assistance to deliver training programs resulting in Australian equivalent qualifications.
Vocational education is a significant factor in the growth and development of Timor-Leste and the success of DIT is critical to the dreams of many Timorese who see a real future for themselves and their children but are unsure or unable to access the benefits of economic development through direct participation in the workforce.
Victoria University will continue to support this the newest of nations and the signing of the MOU with DIT is a public statement of that commitment.
Justice Frank Vincent and Kirsty Sword-Gusmao
