Unlike your traditional fete, on May 6, Victoria University held its first “Read, Write, Debate” Fete as part of our sponsorship of the Williamstown Literary festival.
The fete which took place at the St Albans campus attracted 50+ students and staff who eagerly gathered around to hear stories of the life of an author and there ‘personal journeys’. The fete celebrated all things literary and featured original works of readings, writings and debating from students and invited guests. Guest speakers include Prof Rodney Hall a two-time winner of the Miles Franklin Award, comedian Scott McAteer and playwright Christine Croyden.
With the inaugural “Read, Write, Debate” Fete declared a success, event organiser Janetta Mascilongo (Library services, with assistance from Claire Radbourne, Student Engagement) is already looking forward to organising next year’s fete.
The fete featured in the local Brimbank newspaper (below) with a wonderful article written by Victoria University student Shayma Alshakshir.
