The Hon. Wade Noonan is Victoria University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor of External Relations and Partnerships. He leads Victoria University’s strategies in external engagement, advancement, marketing and student employment, delivering experiences and strategic partnerships that create impactful, excellent opportunities for students, staff and the communities we serve.
Together the portfolio plays a pivotal role in shaping Victoria University through the driving of student recruitment, developing long-term partnerships with industry and advocating with all levels of government to position VU as a leading university. Critically, the portfolio has a deep commitment to ensuring all students graduate from VU career ready, with the skills, confidence and experience employers want and need.
Before joining VU in 2021, Wade spent over a decade in Victorian politics, serving in roles such as Member for Williamstown, Minister for Police and Corrections and Minister for Industry, Employment and Resources. Throughout his public service he faced challenges head-on, gaining valuable insights into leadership.
After leaving politics in 2018, he became Executive Director of WoMEDA, where he transformed the organisation into a major advocacy body.
He received a Companion of the University Award from VU in 2020 for his exceptional contributions to government and the western region of Melbourne. and is a Williamson Community Leadership Program Fellow. He also holds graduate qualifications in Human Resource Management.
Wade has extensive board experience, including roles with the Victorian Health Building Authority, Homes Victoria, Forensicare, the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, Jobsbank, and the YMCA Bridge Project.
